The biggest secret in mixing and audio production that will make you successful !

Written by Luca Di Ferdinando.
Parallel compression, also known as New York compression, is a dynamic range compression technique used in sound recording and mixing. Parallel compression, a form of upward compression, is achieved by mixing an unprocessed 'dry', or lightly compressed signal with a heavily compressed version of the same signal.
Find and learn this technique in all our templates !
We love parallel compression so much we use it in all of them.
This is mainly used for drums, but if you think further the approach can be use for other effects as well.
You can always mix a dry signal with a heavily wet one.
A verb, a distortion, a delay,...
Basically the approach is the key to professional mixing !

Always make sure you question an approach enough.
You'll find interesting ways to expand it to other values.

Time for you to open one of our templates and analyse the feature, tweak it and see what it actually does. Thanks to our templates you will be able to figure it out smartly and quickly :)

Then open a new session on your favourite DAW and experience it on your own, don't forget to expand the concept.
Also check out this new VST by baby audio, they were able to dedicate a brand new plug-in to parallel compression. We are definitely getting our hand on this one ! Damn we love so much parallel compression :)
